Transforming the Yard

Two weeks ago we were finally able to start working on our backyard. Since we're doing it ourselves, it will take some time but I think it's going to look awesome! We played around with the idea of putting fake grass back there (big here in Arizona) but once we priced it all out, there's no way we could afford to put it back there right now and we need a yard. Option two, real grass, will add work but hopefully we'll get it all done in the month. There is a big sand pit (the entire left third of the yard) that was lined with tarp. So we had to dig that all out, no small effort that's for sure. But once that was done, it made a third of our yard all ready to go.

Our backyard was lined with these smaller sized railroad ties with giant stakes into the ground. So Adam was able to get these all pulled it.

The kids kept themselves busy with the dirt/sand. I don't normally let them get all down and dirty so they enjoyed themselves.

We still have a lot of work to do. Adam is going to take out our bougainvilleas (yes they are quite sweet looking when their leaves turn pink but their thorns are a beast). So the plan is to plant some fruit trees in that area. Adam has to trench the sprinkler and drip system and put that all in. Then the cement border around the yard. Followed by grass. We decided to put our tramp in a permanent area in the back left corner with hopes to bury it in the ground. But we decided we'll need a backhoe for that one, not sure whether or not we'll for sure do it. And then we want to do a garden box with retaining wall bricks. We bought the first level so we know where it's going but that will be last on the list (which is fine since the garden won't be going in til next year). The weather is gorgeous right now, I'm in love with the weather! So it's prime time to work in our yard. Hopefully it moves right along!
