LP Day 3: West Canyon

Wednesday, day three, we headed up West Canyon. This is one of the prettiest canyons and even better if you can make it to the Slots. The water has been so low the last few years that the hike to the slots would take hours. Luckily with the water being so much higher this year, we were destined to reach the slots...and we did! The only bummer thing was that it took us over an hour hike to reach the Slots and knowing we still had another hour back to the boat we didn't hike too far up the slots. The whole clan came along for this 3 hour hike in the heat. But it was beautiful and filled with many many many FROGS that the kids couldn't stop trying to catch.

Boating to the end of West Canyon...

Kenedee & Lincoln LOVED catching the frogs. And this hike included hundreds of little frogs hopping around every corner as well as hundreds of tadpoles in the running stream.

Hiking through the super tall grass...

Along the way...

We stumbled upon this little or should I say 'big' gem...a BEAVER DAM! Impressive...

This year versus last year... (last year we hiked this canyon after a rainstorm so there were waterfalls everywhere: pic on the left)

TIME-OUT! Lincoln got in trouble and was sent to stand by the wall. We couldn't stop laughing to ourselves watching him stand there like this for the next few minutes cause we did not tell him to stand like that :)

The beginnings of the Slots. Growing up we were able to hike the slots for quite a ways, too bad the hike to get there was longer than we'd hoped cause it's a beauty!

SOOOO PRETTY!!!
