Pierce the Pirate

Pierce's pediatrician thought his eyes were crossing too much (more than normal for his age) when he was just months old. So we took him in to see a pediatric eye doctor at 4 months old. The eye doctor checked out his eyes, dilated them, and thought they were crossing because of eye immaturity and that they would get better with time. We had a follow up appointment in November, which was four months later (Pierce now 8 months old). The doctor had told me before that at this appointment we'd either see no problems since his eyes matured, or if there was a problem that we would see it because it would only get worse. And that it did. His one eye was still crossing (his right eye) so Pierce was now to wear a patch over his good eye for 2 hours a day for the next two months. This would hopefully strengthen and take care of his 'lazy eye'. For the most part, he put up with his patch with a smile but there were some days where he was just crusty until I took it off. This boy is a trooper!

did your doctor use the term stabismus? my baby seemed to have the same issue w/one of his eyes for a few months. what really helped for him i think was CST and chiropractic adjustments. Pierce is soo cute!
