Headed North...into the fire zone
We packed up and headed North on Friday, June 29th. With our 14 hr drive to Idaho, we usually break it up with a midway stop in St. George. But we decided to pull out the ultimate and made it to Lehi that night (leaving us only 3 1/2 hours the following day). And I gotta say our 10 1/2 hour drive was great...these kids did amazing (except for Pierce :) I think Kenedee & Lincoln watched 1 or 2 movies and the rest of the time they played make-believe, colored or did their workbooks. Pierce on the other hand, whined about 8 of those hours. We finally switched him to his big-boy carseat for this trip and he was HATING being strapped down. Mr. Houdini boy had figured out how to undo his top bucket in his infant carseat and half the time would have his upper body out of his carseat, until I could reach back and strap him back in (even as tight as his straps would go). So he tried for about the first three hours to undo that top buckle but this one is not budging. And ultra props to these kiddos for only needing ONE stop in Page for lunch!
We had heard of the crazy Utah fires but boy was it even crazier to come upon one of them. This was somewhere between Beaver and Nephi (I don't remember exactly where we were) but it was shocking driving that close to it.
We stopped at Warde & Jocelyn's house that evening to catch up, it's been years! It was so fun to see them again, their two girls, and to let the kids run wild in their backyard. Thanks for a fun evening Allans!
That night we stayed at Clark & Holly's in Lehi (Adam's brother). Amber (Adam's sister) and her family were also staying there so it was the ultimate sleepover! The following morning we hung around with Adam's family for a few hours. We hit up the Lehi Parade (Clark & Holly's Ward had a float in the parade so we got to cheer on Abby and Holly walking along). Here we are with Jeff & Lydia enjoying the floats...
We then grabbed lunch at JCWs near Thanksgiving Point. Adam and I both LOVE that place. He loves the fish sticks and I love their malts & fry sauce :) Delicious!
Kenedee & Lincoln very much enjoyed seeing their Barlow cousins. Kenedee & Lydia at lunch...
We said our goodbyes and kept on driving North, finally arriving into Idaho Falls!!!
