LP: Day Three

Adam was looking forward to Wednesday: his return to Adam's Rock (up Face Canyon). He discovered this rock last year on our hike up the canyon and it has become known as 'Adam's Rock' amongst the fam. You might remember this image from last year (it was a straight-up climb as you can see from the picture on the left). Kurt & Adam were the only two to make the trek up last year...

So this year we couldn't pass up climbing to the very top to see Adam's Rock up close (which was possible this year with the help of better shoes for some and cloud cover for myself so I could climb up barefoot). It was way cooler up close!

Myself with The Discoverer

Hiking back down...straight down.

And back through the slots, one of my favorites...

After our successful find of Adam's Rock again we headed up West Canyon, one pretty canyon. As we were going in the canyon (still in boats) a storm came through and drenched us in a matter of minutes. Hail and giant rain drops soaked every towell we used for protection and pelted our backs while protecting our kids. A pretty crazy few minutes but it made for one of the best hikes I remember up West Canyon. After it rains in Powell there are insta-falls running down the rock, they were everywhere!

The rain filled up the riverbed-walk and created some sweet waterfalls up our hike...

We thought the waterfall (above) was cool until we came across the big-daddy of them all. It started as high as we could see, ran down the entire rock wall, and was just dumping water.

Adam decided to test its strength and practically disappeared...

So the girls had to try it out. We linked up and inched our way back into the waterfall. Kate & Kellie got pounded in the middle!
