Friday, May 11th Adam went and picked up our tickets, which don't reserve your seat. The taping starts at 4:00 and they said to show up at 1:30 to get in line for tickets. We got there at 2:00 and were given #123 and #124. So there were that many people ahead of us. But once we found out there were about 350 seats in the audience we knew we'd get in. Once you walk past the gate, the cameras have to be put away and phones shut down. They are serious business about this stuff. Here we are walking to the next waiting area and through security...
We then sat in order for the next hour and a half. We kept joking with each other to put our numbers out on our laps so that the people walking by would see our numbers and take some notes. Ladies kept walking down the rows making sure we were in order, asking to see our numbers, one had a seating chart, etc. But really, it was all a joke up til this point. They sent in the first 50 to sit in the audience, then the next 50, and now it was our turn. We walked through the doors and were following the line up the stairs and down into our seats. As we were about to turn the corner to walk up the stairs a lady stops Adam & I and asks 'is it just you two?' We say 'yes' and she says 'follow me'...WHAT!!!!! So we follow this lady and she walks us out on the floor, yanks off the tape over the seats and sits us there in the front row, two seats from center. INSANE!!! We both looked at each other and just started laughing, it was awesome. We were just to the right of the stage were Jay walks out and directly in front of the band. They said that once Jay walks out, the first two rows can walk up, shake his hand, and then go sit down. So the show starts, Jay walks out, up we stand, I go walking for the stage and Jay is headed right for me, our eyes make contact, and yes...we shake hands. Adam swiped his hand in (he has a different story) and Jay shakes both of our hands together, hahaha. So we had 10 seconds of fame on television that night. :)
The guests that night were Jenna Fischer (Pam from The Office) and Jay Mohr (comedian) who was quite the funny guy. The musical guests were Katherine Jenkins and the American Idol castoff - Holly who sang with the band during the commercial breaks. We loved it all, the whole experience was awesome!!!
Saturday, May 12th we were walking into the Nordstrom Rack there in
Burbank when I realized that four of the five of us were all wearing
stripes. You could say that stripes are in. Two of my cute boys...
Back at Adam's parents house, Pierce was trying to put the dog leash around his neck which was pretty funny to watch. For being 13 months, he is one SMART boy.
Sunday, May 12th, we went to the first part of church with Adam's family and then left for AZ. It was so nice to get away that weekend and spend the time with family...especially his mother. It was a great Mother's Day!
When we arrived home in Arizona that night, there was a manila folder taped to our garage door. I opened the package to find a DVD with the writing 'Ten Seconds of Fame' written on top. Adam & I both busted up laughing. We took it in and watched ourselves on the Jay Leno show from Friday night. Thank you Shawn Nelson for one great ending to our weekend!
